Ramsdale Park Golf Centre has partnered with Woodborough Woods Foundation School, Nottingham, to offer eight talented nine-year-olds a golf scholarship to assist their continued development in golf. As part of the initiative, the youngsters will receive free coaching with Ramsdale Park PGA Professional, Tom Wilson, sponsored by the Ramsdale Park members. In addition, the public play-and-play centre will provide complimentary use of the facility’s 25-bay covered driving range and unlimited free golf on its two magnificent golf courses.
Besides the 18-hole Seely Course, Ramsdale Park – part of BGL Golf, the UK’s leading golf course owner and operator – also boasts the shorter Lee Course, beautifully laid out in the picturesque countryside, providing the perfect proving ground for novices.
The lucky eight to be offered the scholarship are: Oliver Green, Archie Knight, Joshua Morrison, Nate Sloan, Ruby Smart, Isabelle Wheatley, Ethan Witham and Sasha Yeomens Richard Brown, Regional Development Officer of England Golf, the
national governing body for amateur golf in England, gave his praise of the Ramsdale Park initiative, commenting:
"Growing the game at grass-roots level is an important part of our strategy to increase golf participation among people of all ages in the UK. "It can be challenging to encourage youngsters onto the course, and for the good of golf in this country it is vital for facilities to nurture and support their interest in the game - and Ramsdale Park's Junior Sponsorship programme is an excellent example of how club's can approach this responsibility."
